Criteria:
Level 1: 2 plates, 5 finished prints Level 2/Advanced: 3 plates, 5 finished prints
- Each person will grid & enlarge their design to complete a plate for their designated section of the puzzle.
- Each person will make process and practice prints revealing the development of their design.
- The plates and prints work together as an interpretation of the original portrait.
- Styrofoam (white foam)-line design, textures & impressions
- Stamping (colored foam)- shapes cut and arranged
- Collorgraph (cardboard) – cut and pealed, glue application, or other found textures
- Linoleum Carving– This is a more elaborate & time-consuming process
- Wood Cut (best for advanced students) - This is a more elaborate & time-consuming process
- Monoprinting (direct drawing on rolled ink) - Make a template so that your edition can be the same

- Each group collaborates to make 5 final/perfect prints (with all for segments correctly registered)
- The group will research the artist and compile the information into a short (3-5 minute) presentation
- Each person in the group will participate in presenting the artist to the class

Direct Drawing with Acetate or paper pattern

Roll out a very thin layer of black ink onto the desk. Make sure it is larger than the paper.
place the printing paper face down, and then place the acetate/paper pattern on top. Using varying pressure draw over your pattern to transfer the dark (hard pressure) and medium lines (soft pressure). This may take some practice so experiment with different amounts of ink and pressure until you can get it consistently printing like your original design. |
