For this assignment you will design and assemble your own imaginative "Litter bug collograph," using found textures, trash, and nature. The collograph technique of gluing relief textures and cutting and pealing cardboard will be used to define the shapes, edge qualities, textures and value balance of your bug. Level 2 students will also make a ground plate as a setting or environment and a bug plate to layer over the setting. Your creative "Litter Bug" should display characteristics you hate or love (associate their features with personality characteristics) and relate to specific and recognizable bug species which you will combine features to create your own strange and fantastical "Litter Bug". The design will be transferred to block printing paper using the hand printing techniques, a Limited Edition of prints and 5 experimental prints will be completed for the final project. Sketches, test tile prints, and practice prints will be evaluated for classwork points as steps to document the entomology of your critter.
