For this assignment you will design and carve your own imaginative "Love Bug" or "Pet Peeve," based on characteristics you hate or love. To start, you will work together to identify a variety of bug species and associate their features with personality characteristics. Then you will combine insect characteristics to create your own strange and fantastical Pet Peeve or Love Bug. The design will be transferred to the linoleum block and carved using gauging tools. Practice prints and a limited, group prints, and experimental monoprints will be done to document the entomology of your critter.
